AirTran Airways will continue to grow and expand its destinations in the near future.

AirTran Airways' Fleet

Our current fleet consists of 1 Boeing 717 and a CRJ-700.

The B717 is used for our medium to long range flights. The CRJ is used for short and connecting flights.

In the future, AirTran Inc. plans to transist into an all Boeing fleet. We plan to have 9 Boeing 717s and 6 Boeing 737-700s by the end of the year (2009). Also, AirTran Airways will own all the planes, not lease.

The Boeing 717

The Boeing 737-700
The Boeing Next-Generation 737 was designed with the passenger in mind and features the latest advancements in technology, engineering, and passenger safety and comfort. AirTran will soon be having a whole new interior to all of its flights. The airline will be going through a multimillion dollar renovation to every aircraft. Everyseat will have to offer its own personal TV and XM Radio. In addition, all of the seats will be leather for maxium comfortability. Different colored lights will be used to light the cabin to be different from any other airline. These effects will be taken into play immediately. AirTran Inc. announced that all the renovations will be done as quickly as by the end of the month. (July)

The Struggling Economy

AirTran Airways sees the world just as everyone else does. And we do see how our economy is not doing so well. Because of that, travel hasn't been so easy either. AirTran Buys Out Cobb Energy

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA has been bought out by AirTran Inc. The Performing Arts Centre will now be called the AirTran Airways Overture Center. It cost $54 million to buy the stadium but it will pay out in the end. Many different concerts will be held here. And to kick off the new ownership of the stadium, Miley, Demi, and Selena will be doing a special concert just for us. The date of the concert will be August 2, 2009. Even though the Center can hold up to 3,400 people, there will only be 1,500 tickets, so book fast. Tickets go on sale July 20, 2009. That's only 13 days.

The AirTran Charity Concert

Today, on July 17, 2009, AirTran held a huge concert in the AirTran Airways Overture Center. This concert is for charity and 90% of the profits went to 6 different charities. The other 10% went to our own use. Some of the musicians that preformed at the concert were Nickelback, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, OneRepublic, Usher, and many other musicians. Denver To Be Added

By the beggining of August, there will be daily nonstop routes between Atlanta, GA and Denver, CO. There will then be flights leaving Denver to fly to airports on the west coast. Denver International Airport will become a foucus city for AirTran Airways. This will hopefully cut down on of our fuel prices. We will still offer nonstop service from Atlanta to Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Facts about the CEO

CEO, Chairman, and President of AirTran Inc. (AirTran Airways) is Nicholas D. Strub. Nicholas (or Nick) has been fascinated by planes all his life. He started out by getting to know each type of aircraft when he was about 4 years old. By the time he was 12, he knew almost everything about each type of aircraft. He has also been on 26 different flights, each with a different airline. And when he turned 15, he took flying lessons, and at 16, he recieved his pilot's liscense.

(That is all real until now) Nick lived his years through high school and college, where he attended the University of North Dakota. He recieved his commercial pilot's liscense and got his first job with Delta Airlines. He was one of the happiest people alive. He lived out his dream. But then one day, he decided to live it out even more. He would create his very own airline. Delta actually helped Nick out with a few of their own aircraft. Delta had give the new airline 2 CRJ-200s. With that, Nicholas got hard to work to create the airline known as AirTran Airways. Nick had his airline empire growing at a rapid pace where he sold both CRJs back to Delta and bought 2 Boeing 717s. The Boeings have brought major income and rating for the airline. And that is where he has led us to this very day.
